Why is the new Saints Row a reboot?

_ Saints Row He reached the market in 2006, and received several sequelae. However, this year's new title will be a reboot, and not a numerical delivery. Without a doubt, A decision that not many saw coming, especially considering that there is no great narrative link in the series . In this way, we recently had the opportunity to talk to Brian Trafficker, creative director of this game, to clarify this great doubt.

Although there is still just over a month for the arrival of the reboot of saints Row, we recently had the opportunity totravel to Las Vegas to try this expected title *. It was here where the opportunity to talk with a trafficker was presented about how a reboot was chosen instead in a numerical game. This was what he told us:

We saw those old games as chapters in the universe of Saints Row, that was the story we told. We finished a chapter and followed the next. We do not feel the need to continue the narrative from that perspective.

A

The opportunity to return to Saints Row was fantastic, we moved away for almost 10 years from the series. Saints Row is part of the study's DNA. Having the opportunity to tell something totally different, and apply what we are today to what Saints Row is, keeping that family DNA, we did not want to do something that did not feel natural for a series game.

We started with conversations about Multiverse, sequels, at some point we call ‘five’, why we were the fifth, but the more we investigate, the more we met with stops than with opportunity. Continuity stops, or problems that players would have when changing some character or experiences of the series. Change just by changing does not feel good.

Upon returning, when using all the tools that are at the center of what is a Saint Row game, we had the confidence that we can do it again, and do it with new characters and places, because we have become teachers in the Saint Row recipe.

It is clear that saints row III and IV were products of the time as much as this reboot is. However, times change, and with it the approach to the series. Thus, this title will still keep the essence of what saints Row, but with a series of modifications that reflect the current state of the study . A rather valid reason to be a reboot.

Saints Row_ will arrive in PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC on August 23, 2022 . On related issues, here you can check our hands-on this game. Similarly, trafficker reveals how to launch the game in two generations affected development.

Editor's note:

More than being a GTA clone, as the series was considered for so long, it seems that the reboot is taking more inspiration from Ubisoft games, specifically, Far Cry. It will be interesting to see how it goes to this delivery in just a few weeks.
