World War Z: Revision of the consequences

A War-Based Horror Game with a HORRIFYING TWIST That Made Me Feel Regret - Trenches

As the enemies of the horror disappear, the zombies are a bit like Taco Bell: ubiquitous, comfortable, familiar, composed of some reconfigurable ingredients to infinity and finally, more than likely to come back a second time and to bite your ass. As our beloved fast food chain, zombies have inspired many dubious, but satisfactory late night experiences. Like most people know it, World War Z - at the same time the movie and the book on which he was based - took the undeveloped dead and made them very mobile and added the zombie show striker with rage In swarms of hundreds or thousands at a time.

World War Z - The 2019 video game - was a cooperative shooting game with 4 people who did a decent work by translating the movie of a thousand zombies in the form of game. World War Z: Aftermath is basically an extension of the basic game , although it is not limited to adding additional content. In addition to cleaning some of the technical problems that have affected the original, it adds a new class, introduces a first person mode and, in the two new missions, a new type of enemy.

Whether it s playing the original or aftermath, World War Z is similar to both LEFT 4 Dead or the recent Aliens: Fireteream Elite (which was inspired by the cooperative zombie shooting game). Played alone, it s a bit like trying to raise a barn alone. Technically, it s probably possible, but things are going much better, faster and are more fun with other humans at your side. This can be even more true with aftermath, because without the opportunity to communicate with your team, it is almost impossible not to be submerged. The teammates of the game are competent when the enemy appears in small groups, but not quite up to the frequent major meetings that require specific tactics and coordinated to succeed.

However, with real humans at your side, World War Z AfterMath is always very fun, and the two new episodes are interesting - if they are structurally familiar - and add a few hours of new content. One of the episodes takes place in Rome and your task consists of cleaning the Italian city and its catacombs of the Zombies Horde, while the other is to bring power to the survivors of the Kamtchatka, where the glacial temperatures of the winter Add some mechanical complication to Gameplay because you need to maintain the temperature of your body by finding radiators throughout the level. The robot of the three mission episodes presents waves of ever more numerous enemies and the need to escort and protect key NPCs. The new episodes are not radically different from those of the basic game. Aftermath expands the list of characters playable by four.

By the way, although there are many ways to optimize graphics on the PC version, some of the improvements are linked to the Vulkan API and AMD Cards and not to DirectX. Some users of NVIDIA / DirectX have reported plants when using the Vulkan API, but your mileage may vary. I stayed on DirectX and I had no problem.

One of Aftermath s new mechanics is the ability to play in first person mode. It s an immersive way to experiment with the game, of course, but it s a bit disappointing that you can not target the viewfinder of your rifles, breaking both the sense of reality and the rules established by the shooters In the first person decades ago. If the first person s mode had been fully implemented, it could have been my favorite way to play the game, but without aiming down, the shooting game becomes much less accurate ... or, at least, no more precise that in the third person mode.

Aftermath also introduces a new character class called Vanguard, which is a little more focused on the melee and includes a shield that can be used both offensively and defensively. Anyone who played the original World War Z probably knows that while the game has a progression of benefits and improvements for weapons and seven classes now, it is more logical to really focus on maximizing a class and its advantages, compared to spread points. around a lot of classes. In this spirit, the new episodes are probably more efficient with a fully leveled class than starting with the avant-garde, although if someone really vibrates with the new class, it can of course take the time to strengthen it.

Finally, aftermath doubles the mechanics of enemies swarm by throwing rats in the game, although the enormous groups of rodents are more often an environmental obstacle than an aggressive enemy. Being trapped by the rats requires the help of a teammate to free themselves, while the little guards continue to bite.

The story of World War Z was, and remains, a substantive element whose task is to move the episode player into episode. The two new episodes of Aftermath take place in interesting environments, and the additions and fixes of the game will be welcome for those who come back to World War Z as well as for those who begin. The first-person mechanic has potential but remains incomplete, and the new Vanguard could also please those who want to level a new class. As the basic game, aftermath without human players may not be a difficult pass, but it s not the experience that developers wanted. With friends, or at least competent random sapor homo, World War Z Aftermath offers a unique vision of a familiar enemy and does a great job by translating the terrifying mechanism of the swarm of zombies from the movie to the video game.
